When lifestyle journalist Catherine Pringle hears Nick Farne speak at a book festival, she is immediately intrigued. Nick is an adventure traveller who has just returned from a cycle journey along the Silk Road. Catherine thinks he’s perfect interview material and she sets out to make him say yes.
There’s definitely a spark between them. They both feel it. Even a disastrous rain-soaked trek on a long-distance footpath can’t dampen Catherine’s enthusiasm for him. But Nick spends most of his time travelling and she realises that a relationship with him is going to be complicated.
While Nick is overseas, Catherine’s editor decides to expand the interview into a series on solo specialists. Also on the list is a street artist with a compelling but dangerous act. Catherine is a journalist who will do anything for a story, but life-threatening performance art and an on-again off-again relationship with an adventure traveller will test her resolve to the limit.
Almost true about you is a novella-length prequel to Peloton of two. It’s set two years before the events in that story. You can read the books in any order, but if you’re new to them both, why not start here.
